(This book was reviewed digitally.Originally announced in June 2020 via a tweet posted by the official Adopt Me Twitter account, Fossil Eggs arrived a few months later in Oct. Brown goes all in to match with a grayscale palette for everything but the purple crayon-a callback to black-and-white sci-fi thrillers as much as a visual cue for nascent horror readers. Reynolds’ text might as well be a Rod Serling monologue for its perfectly paced foreboding and unsettling tension, both gentled by lightly ominous humor. As guilt-ridden Jasper receives accolade after accolade for grades and work that aren’t his, the crayon becomes more and more possessive of Jasper’s attention and affection, and it is only when Jasper cannot take it anymore that he discovers just what he’s gotten himself into. Jasper is only a little creeped out until the crayon changes his art-the one area where Jasper excels-into something better. When he faces a math quiz after skipping his homework, the crayon aces it for him. ![]() #Dino pets all dinosaurs tvWhen Jasper watches TV instead of studying, he misspells every word on his spelling test, but the crayon seems to know the answers, and when he uses the crayon to write, he can spell them all. Jasper is flunking everything except art and is desperate for help when he finds the crayon. When a young rabbit who’s struggling in school finds a helpful crayon, everything is suddenly perfect-until it isn’t. Roller-coaster enthusiasts or not, children will eagerly join our intrepid hero on this entertaining ride. The roller-coaster attendant is light-skinned. ![]() Willems’ trademark droll illustrations will have readers giggling. The ending falls somewhat flat, but the whole humorous point is that an underwhelming adventure can still be thrilling enough to warrant repeating. No sentiment is misplaced kids will relate to Pigeon’s eagerness and apprehension. Wearing his feelings on his wing and speaking directly to the audience in first person, the Pigeon describes realistic thoughts and emotions about waiting and guessing about the unknown-common childhood experiences. ![]() So…will he really try it? Are roller coasters fun? When the moment comes, everything seems to go according to plan: waiting in line, settling into the little car, THEN-off he goes! Though the ride itself isn’t quite what the Pigeon expected, it will delight readers. (He’ll also feel dizzy and nauseous.) All this before the Pigeon ever sets claw on an actual coaster. Then, he imagines his emotions afterward: exhilaration, post-ride blues, pride at having accomplished such a feat, and enthusiasm at the prospect of riding again. He envisions zooming up and down and careening through dizzying turns and loops. The Pigeon prepares mentally: He’ll need a ticket and “exemplary patience” to wait in line. Since learning about the existence of roller coasters, he’s become giddy with excitement. The Pigeon is on an emotional-and physical-roller coaster. A great one to pair with Bernard Most’s work, dinosaur fans will revel in the possibilities. The final pages name the dinosaurs featured in the text, with the caveat that paleontologists learn more each day and the longest, softest, etc. to find all the dinos gathered there-“Look! My dino pets all came home! No one likes to sleep alone.” The rhyming text and Kendall’s wonderfully creative illustrations will keep young readers riveted, while even the most avid dinosaur fans will likely learn something new, as very few of these are commonly known. Problems abound with each new dino pet, from the softest to the smallest, down to the scariest, until finally, there are no more dinosaurs to choose from. The fastest one runs away, and he keeps stepping on the longest one’s tail. He chooses the biggest dinosaur, but when it won’t fit through his door, back to the store he goes. A very lucky little boy just happens to have a Dino Pets store in his town. Dinosaur lovers’ imaginations soar with this inventive flight of fancy from Plourde. ![]() ![]() You can press "Explain" to view a list of stats presented as JSON, and mouse over the "executed in _ ms" text to see the duration of the query and the number of documents examined. Fauxton lets you run queries and view the results. What else can you do? CouchDB's query syntax is called Mango. This solution might do the trick, but it’s clunky and limiting. The other available option is to show exactly five columns, and choose which field each column displays. Frustratingly, there’s no scrolling left and right, so the columns just get squished together: Sometimes your documents all happen to have the same structure, but if there’s even a little variety, this gets impractical fast. In the table view, you can select "show all columns", meaning there's one column for every field found in any of the documents. For each database, Fauxton lets you view documents either in their native JSON or as a table. ![]() In all the databases we’re looking at, documents are written and stored as JSON. It runs as part of the server itself and is accessible by browser at /_utils. Fauxton is built on top of this API with each page representing an equivalent endpoint. Couch’s primary interface is an HTTP API, typically used through cURL. CouchDB's FauxtonĬouchDB is a mature database with plenty of features, but its GUI Fauxton (formerly named Futon) is pretty minimal. Let’s get started, going from most basic to most advanced. When you have many concurrent users, you'll want to use clustering to achieve high availability if you need to improve the speed of heavy queries, you'll want tools that help you resolve bottlenecks, and so on. Obviously, this all depends on your specific needs. MongoDB Tutorials and Articles: The Complete Collection. It’s especially important that the GUI provide event logs and performance stats for debugging and identifying bottlenecks.Ĭlustering - one rationale for the creation of the first “NoSQL” databases was the need for horizontal scalability, so we might expect the GUI to help visualize and manage a distributed database. But the cost of freedom is that you’re more likely to run into gotchas. Stats and metrics - to oversimplify, document databases give you more freedom than relational databases. Here too, each database has a different approach that needs to be learned. Visualizing how data is processed - indexes, projections, queries, and especially aggregations, like MapReduce, are easier to analyze and keep track of with flow charts and other visual aids. This can be a hassle, but good GUIs can help you write queries and indexes well before you’re fluent. Learning to query - each database we’ll look at has its own query syntax in lieu of SQL. So, how can groups of documents with different structures be displayed and compared in a compact way? The popular third-party MongoDB tool Studio 3T.Īnd RavenDB’s RavenDB Studio, which I’d argue is the best management GUI in the field.īesides the usual features a database management system should have, I want to see how each GUI handles the demands specific to document stores.ĭisplaying documents - unlike the rows in a relational table, documents don’t have to obey a schema. ![]() In this article, I want to compare the different ways GUIs have been implemented for three document databases: There’s a lot to learn and keep up with, and a much higher proportion of developers that are new to the field. ![]() Document databases are a diverse group of technologies, relatively young, and rapidly evolving in different directions. This is even more important outside the familiar world of relational databases, where people generally know the score. When a system breaks in production, a good GUI shows you what’s going on under the hood, while a bad GUI leaves you guessing. One diagram is worth a thousand stack overflow threads, as they say.įor veterans, a GUI should not just expose all the functionality of the database, but simplify or automate routine tasks. ![]() When you’re looking for the right database, it’s easy to forget the part that will most affect your experience in practice: the user interface.įor new developers, an intuitive and "discoverable" GUI can be just as important as documentation. ![]() ![]() ![]()

Autopano giga 2 download download#Download sample photos and project files. In order to create an HDR Panorama, you need:ĭon't have a camera? Don't have photos? It is raining today? No problem! As I am the creator of PhotoEngine, you may not believe me if I tell you it is the fastest, most accurate and most natural HDR tool available! It is anyway easy to verify these claims: download the trials of PhotoEngine and Autopano Giga and read this tutorial. This tool exists: it is Kolor Autopano Giga.įor the HDR and Tone Mapping phase, I will use PhotoEngine in this tutorial. In order to achieve that I needed a panorama tool that was able to manipulate bracketed photo sets, stack them automatically, stitch each exposure set separately and save the panorama as multiple exposure layers instead of a single image. Assemble the three or more panoramas in PhotoEngine to build the final HDR panorama.Create a panorama for each bracketed exposure (one for all the photos at -2EV, one for 0EV, one for +2EV).Rule 2: never use a panorama tool to create and edit an HDR image.Panorama tools are very good at creating panoramas but cannot do HDR images (or are very bad at it)īased on these unique and profound thoughts, I have created the two rules of successful HDR Panoramic Photography!.PhotoEngine is very good at HDR but cannot stich images. The good question was in fact: what is the right tool for the job? To find out what is the best workflow, I have tested all of the above and many other variations. Should I create sets of 32-bit Radiance or OpenEXR images then stitch in a panorama tool? And then, back to PhotoEngine for tone mapping?.Should I first stitch and build a 32-bit image in a panorama tool and then edit in PhotoEngine?.Should I first create HDR images and Tone Map in PhotoEngine then stitch in a panorama tool?.Should I do everything in a panorama tool?.Like many other photographers, I had several unanswered questions regarding HDR Panoramic Photography. With the right workflow and the right tools, HDR panoramas are easy and fun to create.Īs the CEO of Oloneo and main developer of PhotoEngine, I know quite a bit about HDR Photography but I am not an expert in Panoramic Photography. Mixing the two techniques must end up in a complete mess, right? Wrong! HDR Photography is based on photo bracketing. ![]() If like to think it could be fixed in settings as otherwise the stitching is absolutely seem less and the resolution using the original images is pretty spectacular.Panoramic photography requires taking several photos. Right at the bottom the swirl is so tight that it looked like a dark splodge (hence my thinking it was another hole).Īlso, as you say, the horizon is wrong, it curls upwards. If you imagine a circle, everything from 12 o'clock to 6 o'clock swirls anti clockwise and everything from 6 oclock to 12 oclock swirls clockwise. My test image was shot directly above a tree and when you look down directly on the tree everything swirls around. Autopano giga 2 download software#I've checked again and they are blacks gaps at the top - which does kind of make sense as you say, but its a shame that the software can't stretch and blend the image to fill the gap.Īs for the bottom, it's not a gap as such, but the image is kind of 'swirled'. If you are getting gaps at the bottom, i wonder, have you imported all the photos from SD card? Also horizon wasn't flat so some tweaking needed there (if I knew how!) Not as good at stitching as Fly or PTGui and a couple more steps to go through but no gap at bottom. I presume that top gaps are filled by AI within Fly app, but there shouldn't be bottom gaps as the camera can take a shot of directly underneath. I get gaps at the top, but not at the bottom. ![]() |
